Nourish Me

My food philosophy is simple: “There are no good foods or bad foods, there are only perfect bites” A Perfect Bite is simply whatever feels complete and right for you. I created this food philosophy for myself because it helps me be healthy and balanced but allows me freedom to indulge and enjoy.

For me, the perfect bite is made up of 4 components. Pleasure (pleasing to the palate, tastes good), Satisfaction (satisfies my physical hunger as well as my need for foods that feel decadent and indulgent – even if they’re not) Nourishment (nourishes my body, healthy or nourishes my soul if it’s not super healthy) and Authentic (I want the real thing and to know where my food came from, organic, local, and seasonal as much as possible).

The word “perfect” often gets a bad rap. When I use the word perfect I mean it in the whole sense of the term. The truth is, there is no ultimate perfection, and there is no perfect way to eat or live. All of it is a process. Perfect just means whatever feels right to you. What makes you feel good and happy? For me, perfect is feeling happy, satisfied, nourished, and relaxed.

My perfect bite also includes room to not be so perfect all the time. Sometimes it is more nourishing to eat a piece of decadent dessert than it is to think about the health benefits it provides. My goal is to live in the perfection of knowing myself, my body and what will nourish, heal and satisfy it.
